Research activities

The scientific activity of the Institute scientists is aimed at improving production silicate technologies, engineering environmental protection, labor protection, safety of technological processes and industries, protecting the population in emergency situations, creating low-waste, waste free, resource and energy-saving industries, developing environmentally safe equipment.

MAIN AREAS OF ACTIVITY:

Department of Cement and Composite Materials Technology:

  • High-temperature interactions in oxide systems;
  • Energy-saving processes in the cement industry, technologies of binders and other materials of the construction and metallurgical industries;
  • Energy-saving technology of inter-branch use of waste and substandard raw materials;
  • Optimization of heat-mass-exchange processes;
  • Obtaining low temperature binders and curing processes.

Department of Technology of Glass and Ceramics:

  • Development of technology for obtaining protective and decorative coatings on products of wall building materials using a low-temperature plasma torch;
  • Physical chemistry and technology of glass, glass-crystalline and composite materials;
  • Oxidation-reduction processes in the technology of glass and glass-crystalline materials of SCM);
  • Physical and chemical properties of glass and SCM with modified properties;
  • Energy and resource saving in the glass industry;
  • Use of secondary products in the production of glass and glassware;
  • Improving technology and improving the quality of products in industrial enterprises;
  • Development and improvement of technology and design of fine, construction and art ceramics;
  • Development of technology for heat-resistant concrete and non-flammable refractory products with increased service life. Areas of application: metallurgy, glass industry, production of building materials and products, as well as nuclear power;
  • Physical and chemical research of raw materials and evaluation of the raw material base of the ceramic industry;
  • Studying the rheological properties of highly concentrated disperse systems for their application in the production of ceramic materials;
  • Activation of processes in building materials technology;
  • Development of technologies for the processing and use of man-made waste.

Department of Life Safety:

  • Monitoring the safety of the natural and technical systems of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly region in the development of mineral deposits;
  • Investigation of the accidents of buildings and industrial facilities;
  • Development of methods for complex gas cleaning in the building materials industry.

Department of Industrial Ecology:

  • Development of an environmentally sound method for the utilization of water treatment sludge;
  • Development of energy-saving technologies for processing domestic and industrial waste;
  • Study of the influence of microbiological and physico-chemical factors on the durability of building materials and the prediction of their biocorrosion resistance;
  • Monitoring of environmental objects;
  • Biotesting of environmental objects;
  • Development of methods for wastewater treatment.

Department of Defense in Emergency Situations:

  • Development of mathematical and structural-functional models of the system of risk management, prevention and liquidation of emergency and crisis situations;
  • Development of methods for forecasting and assessing the risks and consequences of emergency and crisis situations;
  • Development of new methods and systems of human protection and habitat in emergency situations.

Department of Inorganic Chemistry:

  • Conditioning and utilization of industrial radioactive waste from nuclear energy;
  • Materials science of the construction industry (gypsum, autoclave products);
  • Materials science of nuclear energy (radiation-protective materials);
  • Structural polymer concrete of a functional purpose;
  • Modification of systems based on heavy metal oxides;
  • Complex water treatment and water treatment;
  • Radiation and biological monitoring of the environment;
  • Modeling of physical processes of interaction of gamma photons with crystals and metal polymers;
  • Polymer composite materials for aerospace applications.

Scientists of the Institute carry out scientific research on the instructions of the Federal Agency for Education, as well as within the framework of the Analytical Departmental Target Program "Development of the Scientific Potential of the Higher School" and the Federal Target Program "Scientific and Scientific Pedagogical Staff for Innovative Russia.

The annual volume of funding research on grants, scientific and technical programs and contracts with enterprises is more than 80 million rubles.

The departments closely cooperate with the enterprises of the construction, mining nuclear industry.

Students from the first year take an active part in scientific research under the guidance of leading teachers. The best students of the Institute take part in All-Russian and International scientific conferences.
