Department of postgraduate studies
The postgraduate studies in BSTU were opened in 1973. More than 580 graduates (graduate students and applicants) have successfully defended dissertations for a degree of candidate of sciences. Currently, more than 40% of the graduate students have defended their dissertation works within the allotted training term in the postgraduate studies.
About 60 doctors of sciences and more than 50 candidates of sciences and professors, including more than 30 honored workers of higher institutions of the Russian Federation and honorary workers of higher educational institutions of the Russian Federation are involved to scientific guide of graduate students and applicants.
Studies in the postgraduate departments are carried out in 15 disciplines and 33 programs of training of top skills of all forms of education. In two (2) existing dissertation councils of doctoral and master's theses are defended in 5 specialties where doctoral studies of the university are conducted. Graduates of the postgraduate studies who have successfully mastered the educational programs for the new training standard of research and educational staff are awarded state diplomas of termination of the postgraduate studies with qualification of "Researcher (Teacher-researcher)".
Grants of the Belgorod regional governor and renowned academician Shukhov V.G. and also grant of the President and Government of the Russian Federation are paid to successfully studying graduate students, in addition to the state scholarship.
