V.G. Shukhov BSTU is the region's flagship university, the winner of the contest of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation "On holding a completion of federal-state educational institutions of higher education for the financial support of programs for the development of federal-state educational organizations of higher education at the expense of the federal budget in 2017–2019" (April 2017).
BSTU is the winner of the competition among universities for testing of management models of the interaction of the flagship university with the region (government, business, civil society) (October 2017).
"InIntech" Ltd got the silver medal of the XX Moscow International Inventions and Innovative Technology Salon "ARCHIMEDES 2017." The founders of the company are Ph.D. Yuri Koshlich and Artem Grebennik and others. The project is "Automated system for dispatching control of distributed energy resources of buildings."
"Center for Energy-Saving Technologies and Complexes" Ltd. won silver medal of the XX Moscow International Inventions and Innovative Technologies Salon. Creators are Ph.D. Marina Romanovich and others.
1st place in the competition of projects of young scientists and entrepreneurs of the Central Russian Economic Forum (Kursk); the project by Dmitry Yudin and Alexander Knysh on the basis of "Identification Systems" Ltd: "The software complex for vehicles detecting and determining their angle with the use of in-depth training" became one of the top ten projects, presented at this event.
Alexander Bazhanov won the special prize of the international company SAP of the middle Russian economic forum in Kursk for the development of "Managing software for a 3D printer for construction purposes" and "Model of a transport-warehouse system with a management algorithm that provides a liveness property."

Their subject is software and hardware complexes of efficient distributed energy resource management systems - technological solutions for increasing the level of energy efficiency of engineering systems of energy supply and life support of buildings.
The "Center for Energy Saving Technologies and Complexes" Ltd and its authors Ph.D. Marina Romanovich and others won Silver medal and winner certificate in the nomination "International Invention Fair" of the President of KEPCO Cho Hwang Eyk "International Exhibition Forum of the Global Exchange Platform for Future Electric Power Technology BIXPO 2017" in Gwangju, South Korea. Their subject is energy-saving technologies in industry-highly efficient energy-saving grinding complex for grinding materials for the construction industry, their invention is "Energy saving grinding complex for grinding anisotropic materials".
The project of "Energy saving grinding complex for grinding anisotropic materials" got the award of the head of international relations Hossein Vaezi Ashtiani of the First Institute of Inventors and Researchers of Iran in the nomination: "The best invention."
The winners of the competition of students projects within the management model of interaction of the flagship universities and the region are the "Scientific and innovative youth project "SHUKHOV RACING TEAM" and the vacation innovation school" Naukograd NIKA.
BSTU was among the winners in the selection of university innovation centers in Russian regions. The university is included in the federal program for the implementation of the priority project "Universities as centers of innovation." The results of the selection were reviewed at the first inter-university forum held at the University on December 13–14, 2017, "Flagship universities — drivers of regional development."
Small Innovation Enterprises of BSTU won 3 prizes in two nominations in the local competition for awarding the title of "Best Small Innovative Enterprise", which is annually held by the Department of Economic Development and Investments of the Department of Economic Development of Belgorod. "Compozit" Ltd (director Alexander Babaevsky) and "Innovative technologies and machinery equipment" Ltd (director Yevgeny Zhukov) took the second and third places in the field of building materials. "Center for Energy Saving Technologies and Complexes" Ltd (director Marina Romanovich) took the second place in nomination "The best small innovative enterprise in the field of energy-saving technologies." This competition is held annually, beginning in 2013, with the aim of promoting the development of innovative entrepreneurship in Belgorod, hospitable business environment for the functioning of small innovative enterprises, the production and sale of innovative products, and creating the favorable investment climate in Belgorod.
In December 2017, 400 students from Belgorod Region took a course "Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship" in the Innovation Technology Center. The project manager is the director of the Innovation and Technology Center Lyudmila G. Romanovich. Representatives of all the universities and technical colleges of the city took part in the course. The studying ended with a competition of projects as part of Russian Congress of the Federal program "You are an Entrepreneur" in Belgorod, organized by the Russian School of Management (Moscow).
