On February 15 and 16, the III International Contest of Vocal-Choral and Vocal Performing Arts «Singing Belogorie» was held in Belgorod.

The Student Council of building professionals of the Department of Construction and Urban Management visited the Razumensky orphanage on the pancake week. Orphanage pupils prepared a concert for the guests with an entertainment program, so that, according to the national tradition, it would be fun to spend the winter and bring the approach of spring.

The first international online conference «Modern Technologies of Woodworking Industry» took place at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov on February 15-16. The conference was held at the initiative of the Department of Construction Materials Science, Products and Structures led by the Candidate of Technological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department Sergei Ovsyannikov.

BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov hosted a festive evening dedicated to the Statehood Day and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Serbia at the Institute of Serbian Language and Communications. It was prepared and conducted by Russian and Serbian students of the flagship university of the region and other Belgorod universities. All guests of the festive evening were waiting for the performances of cultural groups, lyrical readings, a competitive program and traditional food.

The competitions in cross-country skiing among the teams of higher educational institutions were held at the cycle ski roller route «Olympia» on February 14 and 15. Teams of five universities competed for first prize: BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, BelSU, Belgorod Law institute of Ministry of the Interior of Russia named after I.D. Putilin, BSAU named after V. Gorin and BUCEL. Almost fifty applications were submitted. 13 participants represented the flagship university.

The first All-Russian forum aimed at developing a professional mentoring environment - «Mentor-2018», was held in Moscow on February 13-15 and united several thousand people. Basically, these are people involved in the practice of mentoring: current mentors of enterprises, representatives of personnel departments, employees of non-profit organizations and educational institutions. The forum was held under the patronage of the Administration of the President of Russia and personally Vladimir Putin, which was repeatedly highlighted by the first deputy head of the Administration S.V. Kiriyenko, as well as ministers and company executives.

BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov has traditionally become a platform for the celebration of the Day of Orthodox Youth. Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol congratulated the students and wished success in the future together with representatives of the university administration and honorary guests.

An international online conference timed to the Day of Russian Science was held at the Department of building materials science, structures and constructions at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. Students, postgraduates and stuff of the flagship university of the Belgorod region as well as students from the federal universities of Russia and foreign countries took part in this event.

The III Staff School of Student Detachments of the Belgorod Region has completed its work in the Center of Youth Initiatives in Belgorod.

The scheduled meeting of foreign student community was held at BSTU resource center of German and French languages. Students from Nigeria, Burundi, Angola, Syria, Egypt, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ghana and Congo discussed plans for the upcoming semester.
