Zambia. Exhibition of National Culture

On October 24 the university held an exhibition dedicated to Zambian national culture, prepared by the students from Zambia. It was on this very day, when, 40 years ago, the former British colony, Zambia, gained its independence. Since then, the free republic has been celebrating its Independence Day as a national holiday

Over 20 students from this African country are taking courses at Belgorod state technological university named after V.G. Shukhov. All of them got together at the exhibition at the hall in the ground floor in front of the main entrance to represent their republic.

Zambia is a country of real African exotic. There are almost no towns and the population density is one of the lowest throughout the continent. Our state is also called an "air conditioned country", as the weather is nice all the year round, tell the students from Zambia. However, the country may be proud not only of the climate, but also the seventh wonder of the world – Victoria falls are one of the largest in the world.  "And these are exotic large animals, the richness of bird flocks and unique flora." With great enthusiasm foreign students were telling about the sights of the country, traditions and culture of people.

At the exhibition you could see national decorations, gifts, national currency, the attributes of the republic, and more. Also, foreign students have prepared a video about their country.
"What is the most remarkable are their colorful and unusual costumes. They catch the eye, you can’t just pass by, and their dance is enchanting, "say the students who visited the exhibition.
"For us, this is not just an exhibition, a real feast to which we get prepared in advance," says a student of the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens Kasonde Chilufa Monica - "I specifically brought my national costume to Russia with me. At home I wear it only on special occasions - on Kuomboka holiday (a celebration of water).

As a rule, in such event, students come from Syria, Jordan, Angola and other countries. The exhibition was visited by the University Chancellor, Professor S. Glagolev, the guests and university staff. As for the Russian students, as a rule, they are not just visitors, but also the participants, who applause to the exotic dancers from Zambians in unison with the music.
"Such exhibitions unite us, we become closer and better understand each other," you could hear these words more than once during the event.
