Shukhov Tower got a new life

On the Oka, restoration work took place on the Shukhov tower, one of the most popular places in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The monument to the Russian architectural avant-garde was created by the famous engineer Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov, whose name is the main university of the Belgorod region.

The Shukhov tower on the Oka was designed by Vladimir Shukhov in the form of a mesh shell and is the world's only single-lane hyperbolic multi-section power transmission tower. It has a twin - the second tower is located in Moscow, but it is a television tower.

The recommendation for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List speaks for itself - this fantastic site will continue to attract the attention of both engineers and architects and many connoisseurs of historical heritage for a long time to come.

Many distinguished guests attended the inauguration ceremony of the restored structure. The great-grandson of the famous engineer Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov and the representative of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. Uvarov Valery Anatolyevich, Director of the Civil Engineering Institute, personally attended the opening of a new tourist attraction in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

“The founder of modern building structures, the great engineer Vladimir Shukhov has created a truly futuristic object. For many years now, the hyperboloid Shukhov towers have been in demand all over the world. And this makes us very happy, as his fellow countrymen and successors of engineering traditions ”, - noted the director of the Engineering and Construction Institute of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhova Valery Uvarov.
