Shukhov team took part in the international competition

At the RDRC Racepark near Moscow (Ramensky district) on September 17-20, the team of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov took part in the international competition Formula Student Russia 2020.

This year, 7 teams in the EV class and 16 in the CV class from Poland, Germany, Hungary and Russia applied for the event. Not all teams were able to attend the competition, which, unfortunately, took place in difficult weather conditions due to the hurricane.

The first test for the SHUKHOV RACING TEAM Combustion was the static discipline "Construction Report", which is the most prestigious of all. The qualified judges commented on the excellent quality of the carbon parts, the high level of electronics and the interesting suspension design. Immediately after that, the car was moved to the technical inspection point, where it was checked for compliance with the competition regulations.

The team of BSTU them. V.G. Shukhov made it to the finals of the "Design Report" discipline together with Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Togliatti State University. The final was held in an extended format with the participation of foreign judges in an online format. In this discipline Shukhov's team took 2nd place.

On the second day, the SRT team went to the dynamic disciplines "acceleration on 75 m" and "eight". The pilots Alexander Belokobylsky and Nikolay Kuznyak did an excellent job and won the 1st place.

But the most important tests "autocross" and "endurance" were ahead. Having entered the “autocross” pilots Maxim Tsedelenkov and Ilya Gubanov covered the track distance very quickly and showed the second result, keeping the car for participation in the main dynamic discipline “endurance”.

Three cars were admitted to endurance. They had to drive 50 laps with a change of pilot in the middle of the distance. The competition provides for strict regulations aimed at compliance with safety requirements, which prohibits any manipulation of the car during a change of pilots, with the exception of changing wheels. Unfortunately, on this day, none of the teams managed to reach the finish line due to various malfunctions found in the middle of the distance.

The results of the competition were the 2nd place in the overall standings and invaluable experience for students who took part in such a large-scale event for the first time.

The season is over, but the team is ready to move forward and fight for the first place. The SHUKHOV RACING TEAM expresses its deep gratitude to the organizers who, in difficult weather conditions, were able to ensure a high level of the event in accordance with all Formula Student rules.

Reference: Formula Student Russia is an annual student engineering competition in which teams from different universities present their independently designed and built formula-type racing cars in two classes: ICE cars (CV) and electric cars (EV). Competitive equipment must pass a series of dynamic tests, and the teams defend the business plan for the operation of their development and the engineering design of the car itself before the panels of judges, and also provide a detailed report on the cost of producing a small series. Judging is attended by both leading Russian experts and experienced international judges
