New place has now appeared in the village of Prelestny, Prokhorovsky District, where residents can pay tribute to each soldier and home front worker who sacrificed himself during the years of World War II. Near the mass grave of Soviet soldiers on July 12, 2020, the grand opening of the Memorial Crossroads memorial, developed by a student of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Jennifer Letkemann.

In the year of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory in the historical center of the village - in the place that actually became the epicenter of the tank battle of 1943 - the grand opening of the Memorial Crossroads memorial took place. Among the guests of honor at the opening ceremony of the memorial were participants of the Battle of Kursk and the Prokhorov Tank Battle Maria Rokhlina, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Borisovna Lyubimova, Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region Pavlova Olga Albertovna, rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov- Glagolev Sergey Nikolaevich.

“It is no coincidence that this monument appeared in the year of memory of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. The idea of ​​creating the Memorial Crossroads memorial was born at the young Belgorod town Jennifer, which speaks of the inextricable link between generations. It is important that people who will live after us will remember! ”, Said the Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region Olga Pavlova.


The author of the project, a student of the Belgorod State Technological University. V.G. Shukhov, Jennifer Letkeman was presented with a commemorative composition - the layout of the Memorial Crossroads memorial. Cadets of the military training center named after Hero of the Soviet Union Army General N.F. Vatutina at BSTU them. V.G. Shukhov also attended the ceremony. They laid flowers at the mass grave of Soviet soldiers who died in battles with the Nazi invaders.
 

Jennifer dreamed of becoming an architect from the age of 10, and this zeal was noticeable. In her young years, she already won the Grand Prix of the contest “We are Belgorod residents! Think, decide, act! ” This was followed by a victory in the grant competition of the All-Russian Forum “Tavrida”, where 1,500,000 rubles were won. In each case, the victory was brought to Jennifer by the designed and designed project “Crossroads of Remembrance” - a monument to the losses during and after the Great Patriotic War.

“The idea came to my mind when I found out that the villagers have a tradition: on July 12 they make funeral tables as a tribute to those who have not returned from the war. I decided that this tradition must be preserved, and a special place should appear, ”said Jennifer.

The “Crossroad of Memory” is dedicated to the eternal memory of those who died on the battlefields of World War II, their widows and children of war years. This is a reinforced structure with eight stone faceless female bas-reliefs, in the place of each of which we can also be, as conceived by the author.


The guests of the complex are greeted by a single sculptural composition of a woman at the memorial table, dedicated to the mothers and widows of soldiers who fell on the battlefield in 1941-1945. It was made by a famous Belgorod sculptor and artist, chairman of the creative union “Guild of Masters” Maxim Baranov. The perfectly detailed and thoughtful collective image of the woman near the memorial table affected the deep feelings of everyone who came to the grand opening of the memorial.

At one time, Jennifer won the open regional contest of new technologies and innovative projects “We are Belgorod residents! Think, decide, act! ” This year, Vladimir Turtsev and Pavel Tregubenko, graduates of the Hero of the Soviet Union School of A.M.Rudogo, became the owners of the grand prix of the competition. Ore. The winners received the coveted figurines of victory from the hands of the Deputy Governor of the region Olga Albertovna and certificates for admission to the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov from the rector of the university Sergei Nikolaevich.
