Technolog-Spartak became the silver medalist of the Russian Handball Championship among the teams of the Higher League
In 2020, the Russian Handball Championship among the teams of the Higher League was held in a fairly short time: the season began in September 2019, and was completed in March 2020. The games were suspended by the decision of the Russian Handball Federation due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in the country - the emergence and spread of a new infection COVID-19. The Belgorod State Technological University named after Vladimir Shukhov at the championship was represented by the Technolog-Spartak team, prepared by two honored trainers of Russia: Sergey Ivanovich Kramsky and Sergey Ivanovich Yarkov.
At the time the championship stopped, all the teams played mainly 20 games each, that is, it remained to play, nothing at all, 4 games. At the time of termination of the games, the BSTU team named after V.G. Shukhov confidently took second place, gaining 33 points per season. The gap with the first place was only 7 points, it was won by the Sungul team in Snezhinsk of the Chelyabinsk region (40 points), the technologist’s gap was the same with the third place, and the team from Rostov-on-Don DSTU - Leader took it (26 points).
This difference in points allowed the Russian Handball Federation to make the appropriate decision on the distribution of prizes at the time when it was decided to stop the competition. Thus, the men's team BSTU them. V.G. Handball Shukhov received silver at the Russian Championship among the teams of the Higher League.
“Technologist-Spartak” at the competitions not only secured a second place, but also turned out to be the most productive team of the season. The scorers of the team have 686 goals, and the difference between goals scored and conceded is 116 goals, which allowed the team of the reference university to become the second in this indicator among all the teams of the season.
It was not easy for the team to achieve such a result; both victories and defeats were observed. However, the whole team and, above all, its main composition - the backbone of the team, which has already been playing for more than one season, has allowed us to become the championship winners and prove ourselves at the most worthy level. These are team goalkeepers Sergey Rusinov and Denis Palikhov, main defenders Alexander Belokopytov and Konstantin Vinokur, field players Ivan Tsukanov, Nikita Dugushkin, team leader Igor Neklyudov and main lineman Dmitry Simonov. Perhaps this season was the best in the career of field player Ilya Kudryavtsev, point guard Nikita Zadorozhny played efficiently, Denis Zelinsky held the championship very smoothly.
