Students of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov won a silver cup in beach handball competitions in Italy
On the island of Sicily, the European Beach Handball Champions Cup has ended. The Russian team performed under the flag of the Ekaterinodar teams, the team included athletes from Stavropol and players from the Belgorod team Technolog-Spartak: international master of sports Igor Neklyudov and sports master Konstantin Vinokur.
There are 16 teams were divided into four subgroups. Without any problems, the Russian team won all the matches in the subgroup with a score of 2: 0 and reached the next stage from the first place.
In the quarterfinals, the rivals could not resist the Russian team: the Russians were stronger than the Dutch team Hiekka, and in the semifinals they defeated the French team Ex.
In the finals of the championship, the Russians met with the Spanish “Seville”. The finale was very stressful. The first set was left to the Russians 20:19, and in the second, our handball players for 2 seconds conceded a goal against the Russian national team and reached a series of shootouts. Two inaccurate shots by the Russian team made the Sevilla team the European Champions Cup holder.
Igor Neklyudov and Konstantin Vinokur are two-time European Cup winners and two-time silver medalists.
Belgorod athletes showed themselves at a good level. This tournament was one of the stages of preparation for the World Beach Handball Championship, which will be held in 2020 in Italy.
