Launched VII Regional Science Festival

On the 11th of October at  the Belgorod Palace of Children's Creativity under the auspices of the All-Russian Science Festival "NAUKA0 +", the opening ceremony of the VII Regional Science Festival was held.

This year, the central venue for the large-scale event was Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov and  Belgorod Palace of Children's Creativity.

Representatives of the region’s authorities and business, heads of Belgorod universities, employees of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the state space corporation Roscosmos, delegations of higher, secondary vocational, general and pre-school education of the region took part in the opening ceremony of the festival.

Olga Pavlova, Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech: “Today, representatives of different ages and professions have gathered here, but all of us have one thing in common - love of science, its capabilities and achievements, experiments and research. Belgorod region has always been especially warm with curious people who know how to ask questions and make discoveries. The main function of the regional festival of science is to increase the number of such people, so that every year more and more young Belgorod residents choose science as the sphere of their professional activity.

For this, all necessary conditions are created in the Belgorod region. The crown of our fruitful work was the decision of the President of Russia on the creation of a Scientific and Educational Center in the region. This is the result of our hard work, as well as the basis of new victories and discoveries. ”

Rector of the flagship  university of the region Sergey Glagolev noted the important role of the festival in the development of the scientific environment of the Belgorod region: “The Science Festival is a bright event in the life of our university and the region. In two days, more than 5,000 participants will visit two hundred sites in various regions of the Belgorod region. Lectures, master classes and competitions, a demonstration of unique equipment, and excursions to scientific laboratories await guests. The creative format of communication between scientists and society in an accessible language will show how important science is for our city, including university science. All this will contribute to the formation of students' sustained interest in knowledge.

Science has given us things that simplify our lives, however, how many secrets are still hidden from our minds. It is hard to imagine how many discoveries have to be made by young generations.

Remember that everything that surrounds us was created thanks to the answers to your questions. Do not be afraid to ask yourself questions, and let the unflappable answers to them will certainly lead you to the truth. ”

Hero of the Russian Federation, test cosmonaut, colonel of the Russian Air Force Anton Shkaplerov became a special guest at the festival. He expressed gratitude to the leadership of the supporting university of the region for the opportunity to become part of a major event. Anton Nikolaevich spoke about the features of his work, invited young scientists to begin their career in the space industry.

During the ceremony, the results of the regional grant competition were summed up. In the nomination "Construction and building materials science" won the postgraduate student of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Maria Krutilova.

Among them are representatives of the technological university: Nikolai Simonov (student of the Department of EUN), Alexey Gavshin (student of ITOM), Natalya Altynnik (director of the Small Technological University at the BSTU named after VG Shukhov).
