Students of preparatory faculty got acquainted with the section of materials science and construction materials
The career guidance meeting for students of the Preparatory Faculty for Foreigners was held at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
Professor of the department, head of the section of materials science and structural materials Andrei Stativko, together with teachers and students, demonstrated modern equipment for the artistic casting of metals and alloys, welding equipment.
At the exhibition of the department’s works, exponents made by “golden hands” of Shukhovs were presented. Among them are decorative household items: garden bicycles, barbecues, paintings made of wool, glass, mosaics, street lamps and wood furniture.
An important moment of the meeting was a master class in which the students of the PFI made an all-knowing owl out of plaster - an eternal symbol of wisdom.
Foreigners have been told and shown to all the stages of work: the formation of a figure from plasticine, how to make a silicone form with it, how to fill it with plaster.
The students of the preparatory department were impressed after the meeting, and the talk about what they saw continued for a long time. Foreigners subsequently interested in entering this specialty.
