Friendship with Serbia

Institute of the Serbian language and communications of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov signed MOU with the Russian-Serbian Friendship Club “OSTLU-Serbia” of the Orthodox St. Tikhon Humanitarian University, with the Synodal Department of Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Belgorod branch of the All-Revolutionary Society “Rev. Justin Chelisky and Vranjsky”.

A youth delegation of PSTU students and Serbian students from Moscow and St. Petersburg universities arrived in Belgorod. The trip was blessed by the head of the Synodal Department of Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Cyril, and supported by the Rector of St. Petersburg State University Archpriest Vladimir. The organizer was Alina Solovieva, head of the OSTLU-Serbia Russian-Serbian Friendship Club.

 

The purpose of the visit was to acquaint the initiative youth with the advanced experience of the Institute of the Serbian language and communications, the areas of its cooperation with Serbian partners, acquaintance with the supporting university of the region and the Orthodox shrines of the Belgorod region.

BSTU named after  V.G. Shukhov as the initiator of the visit and the host country provided the delegates with a rich cultural and educational program. The guests traveled to the underground male Kholkovsky Holy Trinity Monastery. On Lazarus Saturday, they attended a liturgy, which they serve only once a week in an underground temple.One of the highlights of the visit was the “Serbian Evening”, which traditionally organized the Institute of the Serbian Language and Communications of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.

The event opened with a joint choir of the Belgorod Orthodox Theological Seminary with a missionary focus and the BGIIK led by Margarita Khimich. The program of the evening included poetic and musical numbers performed by students and teachers of Belgorod universities: verses of Serbian poets in the original and in translation, Serbian folk and modern songs, songs about Serbia. It was also taught to make Serbian coffee and dance the national dance “Kolo”.

 

 

The official program of the delegation included liturgy at the Transfiguration Cathedral, a round table at the Belgorod Orthodox Theological Seminary with the participation of the Rector, Archpriest Alexei and the Vice-Rector for Research at the Support University, Sergey Kolesnikov, and a tour of the campus and the museum and exhibition complex of the BSTU. There are  two cooperation agreements were signed. The first is between BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov and the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. The second is between the Institute of Serbian Language and Communications of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov and the Belgorod branch of the All-Orthodox Society "Rev. Justin Chelisky and Vranjsky".

Recall that, on the basis of relevant cooperation agreements, the Institute of Serbian Language and Communications already interacts with the Russian-Serbian Dialogue Center for International Cooperation, the Slavic Center of Culture of the BGIIC. Negotiations are underway on partnership with the Serbian center of UNN them. N.I. Lobachevsky.

 

 

An agreement was also reached on the joint implementation of a number of projects and the further development of the partnership. Participation of the PSTU team at the Inter-University Youth Festival “Russia Zapovednaya”, participation of the PSTU-Serbia Russian-Serbian Friendship Club in the festival-forum “Serbian Days in Chernozemye-2019” in Tambov, Belgorod residents in the events of the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church , as well as the organization of the exhibition of Serbian icons in Moscow.

 

 

  

 

Noted : BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov represents the avant-garde of the development of the Russian-Serbian partnership in the traditions of friendship and unity of Orthodox Slavic peoples not only in the Black Soil Region, but also at the national level.

The University has signed 26 cooperation agreements with Serbian educational institutions, scientific, sports and social-cultural organizations, as well as enterprises and firms. BSTU named after  V.G. Shukhova cooperates in all formats with all state-run Serbian universities. Works effective system of academic exchange. Since 2006, 965 Russian and Serbian students have participated in it.

BSTU for many years holds the first place among related universities. Many areas of training occupy a leading position in the ratings conducted by the Ministry of Education and independent experts. Graduates successfully work not only at the enterprises of the Russian Federation, but also in the countries of near and far abroad.

Nowadays  there are about 25,000 students study  in Shukhov, including about 1,500 foreign citizens from Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
