The University commemorated the fallen soldiers-internationalists

February 15 at the Museum and Exhibition Complex  of BSTU named after  V.G. Shukhov, a video lecture was held, dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Russians, who were in office duty outside the country. This memorable day was approved in November 2010 by the President of the Russian Federation.

The event was attended by teachers, students and staff of the university. Andrei Cherkasov, an internationalist warrior, combatant, chairman of the university veterans board, addressed the audience with the opening remarks: “On this day we remember all the compatriots who participated in more than 30 armed conflicts in our country and abroad. Thousands of Soviet and Russian military personnel died in combat operations in various countries: Spain, Korea, Vietnam, Egypt, Mozambique, Angola, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia. And there were still “hot spots” of the republics of the former USSR - Chechnya, South Ossetia and Abkhazia ”.

The participants honored the memory of the fallen soldiers-internationalists with a minute of silence.

Andrei Viktorovich told how an eighteen-year-old boy from his student days was drafted into the army. After graduating from school, he was to serve in Afghanistan. The front, without the front line, was everywhere ... Every minute one could wait for a shot in the back, be pressed to the ground by fire, hear the whistle of bullets and shoot back to the last bullet. The nature of difficult tasks was accompanied by a high level of serious infectious diseases. But there was another side: a great organization of combat work and interaction of the armed forces.

The meeting ended with the viewing of a documentary film about Afghan soldiers. Students listened to the speakers with interest and asked questions.
