Professor from France discussed the results of a joint project with university scientists
On the base of flagship university - BSTU. Named after V.G. Shukhov — Professor Gwen Le Saut from the Min-Telecom Institute Min Ales (France) (former Higher Mining School of Ales) paid a working visit.
The visit of Professor Le South to “Technologist” was the third since 2011, during the period of cooperation between the universities of Belgorod and Ales. The Frenchman noted a high level of research base of BSTU. Named after V.G. Shukhov and expressed confidence in the successful continuation of scientific and educational cooperation.
The key objective of the current visit of the professor from France was to discuss the results of a joint initiative project, implemented under the guidance of Valeria Strokova, Head of the Department of Materials Science and Materials Technology, dedicated to the development of eco-positive biostable composite materials.
The researchers summarized the results of the block of experiments performed, made a program for further research and decided to continue the work on preparing a joint article for submission to a high-ranking foreign journal.
By tradition, Professor Le South gave a course on lectures on “Introduction to Cement Chemistry and Durability of Concrete” to university students and postgraduates, which, among other things, noted trends in modern world materials taking into account global warming, the need to reduce CO2 emissions in the production of building materials increasing the rational use of by-products and waste products.
In the framework of working meetings with the staff of the department of materials science and technology of materials, the research methodology was discussed as part of a joint project, the possibility of expanding the toolkit, and prospects for launching a project in the development of geopolymers based on fly ash on the initiative of Professor BSTU. Also, in the framework of the visit of the professor from BMI Min Ales, a meeting was held with the head of the international relations development department of the Center for International Education and Cooperation Sabina Velieva, in which the parties discussed further cooperation, participation in international conferences, scientific and academic exchange between universities, outlined plans for next year.
For reference: Mr. Gwen Le South represents one of the three research centers of the BMI Min Ales - the Min Ales Material Center, in particular, the direction “Materials and Structures for Civil Engineering”. At his school, he conducts fundamental and applied research in the field of developing composite binders and concretes based on them, supervises graduate students, and also gives lectures, conducts laboratory and practical classes in chemistry of binders and general materials science.
