Chinese students celebrated New Year

During the full moon night on February 2-3, the world celebrated a coming New year by the oriental calendar. On the eve of the favorite festival the Chinese traditionally stick red signs on their doors containing holiday greetings and make fireworks. The people stay awake all night enjoying the holiday, which is called ”shou soui” in Chinese, which is translated as «to take care of the holiday».

The students from China studying at BSTU prepared a colorful exhibition and presented stands dedicated to a holiday history, which they decorated with great love. They also displayed souvenirs connected with the New year celebration.

The students, nicely dressed, recited poems on their own language and sang New Year songs. Everyone could come up to the Chinese students and find out more about the beautiful festival celebrated in this old and at the same time eternally young country. It should be noted that the university management always supports the wishes of foreign students, respecting their customs and traditions.

The event was organized by the Chinese students under the support of preparatory faculty of foreign citizens and the centre of international education and cooperation..
