A delegation from the German city of Herne visited BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov
An official delegation from Herne (Germany) - the sister city of Belgorod visited flagship university of the Belgorod Region – BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
The delegation led by the Mayor of the city of Herne, Dr. Frank Duda, included representatives of the city administration and large enterprises.
According to the tradition, the guests of honor laid flowers at the monument to engineer Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov. The representatives of the University's rectorate welcomed the foreign guests: the president of the university Anatoly Gridchin, the first vice-rector Nikolay Shapovalov, the vice-rector for security Vladimir Borisovsky, the heads of the university structural divisions.
It should be reminded that Anatoly Mitrofanovich Gridchin was there at the beginning of international friendship between Belgorod and Herne. Anatoly Mitrofanovich was the initiators of the International Cooperation Pact which was signed On February 19, 1990. Herne is the first sister city of Belgorod. International friendship lasts more than 28 years.
During the introductory excursion the honorable guests were told about the history of the university, the unique campus, the educational, scientific and innovative potential of the university. Guests from Herne could see all the sights - from monuments to scientific laboratories. The tour ended at the Center for High Technologies, in the hall of the Academic Council. Here the guests were shown a film about the university. And all present at the meeting could communicate in a friendly atmosphere and discuss the issues of interest.
