The University hosts the final of the VI All-Russian Summer Universiade
The final competitions of the VI All-Russian Summer Universiade-2018 started at the flagship university. The solemn and colorful opening ceremony took place at the stadium of BSTU on June 23.
The honorary guests of the competitions, representatives of the University's rector's office, headed by the rector of the university, Professor Sergey Glagolev, participated in the opening ceremony, as well as students, staff, citizens, representatives of regional mass media.
Belgorod for the second time was awarded the right to conduct the final competitions of the Universiade. BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov has extensive experience in holding competitions of various levels and has an excellent material and technical base.
It should be noted that the final competitions are also held in Omsk, Smolensk and Saratov. More than a thousand students from 45 universities of Russia take part in the Universiade.
Belgorod hosts competitions in 7 of 12 kinds of the program: volleyball, handball, table tennis, rugby-7, taekwondo-WTF, fencing and chess. As it was mentioned at the opening, the holding of the All-Russia Universiade helps to attract young people to systematic physical training and sports and to form a healthy lifestyle among students.
The chief judge of the 6th All-Russian Summer Universiade in 2018 is the president of the Belgorod regional volleyball federation, the champion of the 2012 Summer Olympics, the Honored Master of Sports of Russia, member of the Council of Deputies of the city of Belgorod Taras Khtey declared the Universiade open.
