A university student became a judo bronze medalist

On May 8 and 9, the All-Russian Judo Tournament for the prizes of Kursk battle Heroes among men and women was held in the city of Kursk. 130 judoists from 18 regions representing five federal districts took part in the competition.

This annual sporting event allows the winners of the tournament to be awarded the title of Master of Sports.

Student of Chemical Technology Institute Ekaterina Shagaeva represented the regional flagship university. She took part in two weight categories: +78 and in the absolute weight category. The student became a bronze medalist in each category.

 

The coach of the judo team, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, Associate Professor of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Nikolay Kutergin shared: «The tournament was very representative and strong. Katya participated for the first time in such competitions, so we believe that her result is very high. In the weight category for the final, she lost, having won two fights before that».

Yekaterina Shagaeva expressed her gratitude to the coach and noted that participation in such competitions is motivated to higher results.
