Rector Sergey Glagolev outlined the strategic priorities of the University in 2018

A conference of university staff and students of Belgorod State Technological University named after V. G. Shukhov was held at the regional flagship university.

152 delegates took part in the conference. The presidium included the rector of the university Sergey Glagolev, the president of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov Anatoly Gridchin, first vice-rector Nikolay Shapovalov, chairman of the primary trade-union organization of BSTU Sergey Latyshev, director of the chemical technology institute Vyacheslav Pavlenko and chairman of the joint student council Anastasia Voskresenskaya.

During the event, two issues were considered. Within the framework of the first issue rector made a report for 2017 and told about the tasks for the coming year.

After becoming a flagship university in 2017, BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov announced a new mission, new indicators, new efficiency and entered an entirely new coordinate system - the system of the flagship university. The past year has been an adaptation to the new tasks: the interaction and influence of the university on regional development in all its aspects.

Implementation of a pilot project to establish a regional technology platform with the administration of the Belgorod region has become an important aspect of the university development.

According to the speaker, the admission target figures in 2017 were fully met. The number of state-funded places allocated to the university by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for the master degree department increased by 40%. The university enrolled 2714 people from the Belgorod region. 816 people are enrolled from other regions of Russia.

«Small Technological University» was established at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov in 2017.

 

The university appeared among 11 winners from 33 flagship universities in the competition of university centers of innovative, technological and social development within the framework of the priority project «Universities - as centers of innovation creation space». The university's experience was presented at the first inter-university forum, which gathered more than 600 participants.

In 2017 3 new bachelor’s specializations were licensed: «Biotechnology», «Technology of logging and wood processing industries», «Public policy and social sciences». Also the new master degree programs were implemented «Housing and communal infrastructure» and the specialization «Chemical technology of modern energy materials». The specialization «Information security» received the state accreditation.

 

In 2017, international cooperation actively developed. Today, more than 115 inter-university agreements signed.

According to the rector, the university along with other universities of Belgorod region should become the key innovative locomotive of technological transformation of the region's economy and a major employer for its graduates.

 

Based on the results of the second issue discussion, the structure of the Academic Council included Svetlana Spesivtseva, director of the institute of correspondence education, and Elena Voskresenskaya, chairman of the joint student Council of the university.

 

At the end of the conference the members of the credentials committee had voted in favor – and recognized the rector's work as satisfactory in 2016.
