BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov celebrated the Day of Orthodox Youth
BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov has traditionally become a platform for the celebration of the Day of Orthodox Youth. Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol congratulated the students and wished success in the future together with representatives of the university administration and honorary guests.
The event began with the meeting of the student bodies of Belgorod with the head of the Belgorod Metropolis. It was organized as part of the federal project «Dialogue on Equals». Rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, Professor Sergey Glagolev, University President, Professor Anatoly Gridchin, and Vice-Rector for Cultural, Educational and Social Work of the University, Professor Irina Avilova attended this meeting.
The students of the Belgorod educational institutions who gathered in the flagship university raised the most emotional issues before the head of the Belgorod Metropolis. Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol answered questions concerning his activities as a church hierarch. Pavel Rogozhnikov, the student of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov came up with the best question on the problem of fanatical religion. The young man got the answer personally from the Metropolitan.
The program continued with the winners awarding of the children's regional drawing contest «My God» in the Student Palace of Culture. Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol and the head of the regional culture department Konstantin Kurgansky congratulated the winners. All the awardees received memorable prizes. Rector of our university, Sergey Glagolev, BSTU President Anatoly Gridchin, First Deputy Chairman of the Belgorod Regional Duma Alexander Sklyarov, along with the winners and guests of the event, got acquainted with the children drawings, as well as with the works of the students of the Department of Design of Architectural Environment of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.
The festive program ended in a concert hall. In solemn atmosphere with the Day of Orthodox Youth and the Candlemas all the guests were congratulated by the head of the Belgorod Metropolis: «I congratulate everyone on this bright and kind feast day. Today, it seems like I am getting younger, communicating with young people».
Rector of our university, Sergey Glagolev, recalled the beginning of the tradition of celebrating this day, which belongs to Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, and also to the President of the university, Anatoly M. Gridchin. Sergey Nikolaevich wished all the guests well-being and faith in their own strength.
The first deputy chairman of the Belgorod regional Duma Alexander Sklyarov congratulated all students and guests on behalf of the governor of the region Yevgeny Savchenko and the chairman of the regional Duma Alexey Postryasayev «We are proud that our Belgorod region is rich not only with military, labor, sports, spiritual traditions, but also with such purposeful and inquisitive young people! ».
The department head of the region youth policy, Andrey Chesnokov, pointed out that the initiatives and proposals from the students of Belgorod region are always welcome and implemented.
All the guests performed the anthem of Russia together with the soloist of the Belgorod State Philharmonic Alexander Belysh. The solemn event was concluded with a concert of the legendary music band «Kalinov Most». The band soloist - Dmitry Revyakin congratulated all the guests of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov and wished success in their future endeavors.
