BSTU students won three awards in the engineering projects competition
From 7 to 9 February, three engineering-racing teams of the flagship university - SHUKHOV RACING TEAM, SRT Baja and SRT Electric, took part in the 6th All-Russian Forum «Student engineering projects» at Moscow automobile and road construction state technical university, where they became the winners in the nomination «Best photo». Also they took second place in the engineering competition «AutoCorning» and 3-rd place in the business plan presentations.
The event was traditionally held at the Moscow State Automobile and Road Technical University. The development of engineering dimensions such as Formula Student, Formula Electric, Baja SAE, Shell Eco Marafon and Smart Moto Challenge were the main objectives of the forum. Also the Forum was focused on the popularization of engineering education among the youth of Russia, development and training of engineers of the new formation, as well as the exchange of experiences between students and direction supervisor.
In three days of engineering drive participants were able to show their skills in different engineering competitions. «One of the most interesting and memorable moments was the participation in Autocurling», - Victoria Saplinova, the captain of SHUKHOV RACING TEAM shares her impressions. «The objective of this competition was to create an electric wheeled vehicle with a microprocessor control system, as well as passing dynamic tests». They did an excellent job, finishing second. The team was the first who programmed and collected the vehicle, and they passed the test on the first attempt. The vehicle was programmed and collected first, and the test was passed on the first try.
Victoria Saplinova got an award in the nomination «Best Photo». And the team lead economist picked up 3rd place Sergey Vorobey in the competition of business plans for small-scale production of sport off-road cars of the «buggy» type.
In addition to participating in engineering competitions, students were able to communicate with special guests of the event. The technical director of the racing team «ArtLine Engineering», the multiple prize winner of the USSR and Russia in ring racing Alexander Potekhin was one of the honored guests at the event. He told about the beginning of his career in motorsport, and also shared some considerations concerning the details of his work. This information was very useful for the team - the guys had an idea to modernize the suspension system, developed for the new car.
Victoria Saplinova, the SRT captain made a presentation «SHUKHOV RACING TEAM project as a tool for the development of engineering education in the youth environment» in the section «PR, logistics and economic disciplines». The report was highly praised by the PR-manager of Continental company Dmitry Makarov. Sergei Vorobey spoke about the importance of the brand of engineering and racing project teams «Formula Student». The captain and mechanic of the SRT Baja team Evgeny Moroz and Yevgeny Bezugly made presentations in the section «Chassis, engine and aerodynamic hull», telling about SUV buggies and the future car «Technolog-1». The car assembly has already begun.
Also within the framework of the forum an exhibition of sports equipment of student teams was held. The most memorable part of this event was the demonstration performances of the MADI team buggy, as well as the presentation of a unique invention - a caterpillar snow thrower, authored by one of the university students.
In general, SHUKHOV RACING TEAM, SRT Electric, SRT Baja had a fruitful time at the forum, came in the three of the best performers and having learned a lot of experience from colleagues and experts. The team returned to Belgorod with new ideas, creative solutions and memorable prizes from the forum sponsors.
