Cooperation with Germany

In early February Belgorod State Technological university named after V.G Shukhov received Karl Kleinberg,  professor of Georgius Agricola University of Applied Sciences, who came on a business visit from Germany. The guest from Germany arrived at our university in order to establish mutually beneficial partnership, which involves joint development of training programs leading to double degree for both universities, coordination issues related to internships for graduate and doctoral students in the partner institutions, as well as aspects of student and staff exchange etc.

The representative of a friendly country discussed the cooperation prospects on the first day of his visit, on February 2, during a personal meeting with the university management, particularly with the rector of our university, Professor S.N. Glagolev.

The parties proceeded with business negotiations at the department of mechanical equipment, headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V.S. Bogdanov. They were attended by leading professors of the Institute of Technological equipment and units Y.M. Fadin, S.I. Hanin, M.Y. Eltsov, Associate Professor V.G. Dmitrienko.  The parties were interested in discussing joint programs in the field of mining. For instance, waste rock  are stored at Lebedinsky mining concentrator in huge amount, there is an urgent need for disposal, as this causes environmental pollution. Moreover, the waste rock which  still contains iron, can be used to produce pigments and dyes. It should be noted that the amount of such waste rock reaches  is two million tons a year.

Plenty of waste rock, for example, lime, can be used in a variety of activities. The possibilities of less expensive process for abandoned mines conservation was discussed. The guest of the University said that they have a lot of experience in this area and it is quite an interesting issue for joint research.
Mr. Kleinberg was interested in the procedure of preparing master's and doctoral theses, as well as experience in foreign students training, including and using distant learning technology. All questions were given competent answers by the director of the Institute of technological equipment and machine building V.S. Bogdanov. He stressed that our university is not only a long-standing experience with international students, but also has the necessary textbooks in English and that currently the university has more than 1,000 international students.

Such an important aspect as a language barrier was also mentioned. But this issue also found a decent solution: V.S. Bogdanov said that already hired an English speaking lecturer. So everything is ready for cooperation!
After the talks, the  guest accompanied by the Russian colleagues went to the tour of a mine.
