Visit of the President of the Association of Foreign Students of the Russian Federation
On December 6, 2013 President of the Association of Foreign Students of the Russian Federation Adu Yao Nicaise and accompanying persons came to BSTU on a friendly visit . This is his first visit to Belgorod in a his new position . President of the Association graduated from People's Friendship University , defended his PhD thesis and currently is a professor of this university .
Following the traditional the guests laid flowers at the monument VG Shukhov and then met with the First Vice-Rector of the University , Prof. N.A. Shapovalov.
Nicholay Afanasevich noted that our university and association have been linked by fruitful cooperation . The former head of the association Kachofa Gabrielle (now Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Benin to the Russian Federation ) was actively involved in working with international students and the university administration.
Our university is interested in strengthening and expanding ties with the association, as at present , the university has about a thousand foreign students. The First Vice Rector recalled a number of joint projects, including an All-Russian newspaper "One World".
Then the guests were taken to a tour of the university.
At the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens the guests could look into the classrooms, where at this time the classes were being conducted . Students performed their own “anthem" – “Our podfak is the best" and told Adu Yao Nicaise how they cope with the study of the Russian language. The Dean of the Faculty , PhD, Assoc. professor E.N. Legochkina acquainted tye visitors with the organization of training and educational work . Especially the guests were impressed by the attention and care the students are surrounded with.
In Architecture and Construction Institute trains the largest number of foreign nationals. Therefore, the tour continued at the Department of Architecture, where the head , professor M.V. Perkova spoke about the achievements of students, especially in the educational process , projects involving young men and ladies. The guests’ attention was attracted by modern computer rooms for architectural planning and design .
A fascinating tour of the museum and exhibition hall for guests was presented by the director T.L. Konoreva .
The guests gladly visited the youth innovation centers "Cluster" and " Metamorphosis" and met with young scientists section " Nanosystems in building materials science."
Foreign students enjoy playing sports, participate in sports competitions. For successful implementation of sports plans the university has created all necessary conditions : gyms and playgrounds meeting modern requirements, a swimming pool .
During the meeting with the rector of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov , prof . S.N .Glagolev the guests expressed their satisfaction with what they have seen saw, shared their plans. For its part, Sergey Nikolaevich spoke about the major projects implemented in the city and the region , and the participation of universities in their implementation.
In the afternoon, representatives of the Association met with foreign students studying at universities in Belgorod.
Nicaise Yao Adu explained that he is currently paying visits to the universities in Russia, having meetings with the management. In Russia, over 300,000 representatives of other states are studying in Russia at present. Each of them has his own problems , but the Association can help in solving them , this organization has large powers. Yao Nicaise Adu encouraged the students to be more active and initiative. Among the most controversial issues of concern to students , he highlighted the issues of employment , housing , insurance. Students eagerly asked questions and received answers - the conversation was mutually interested and productive .
