Soccer, Soccer
On January 26, Sports Complex of Belgorod State Tecnological University named after V.G. Shukhov hosted an opening ceremony of the annual mini-soccer tournament for a "Friendship Cup", which was attended by about a hundred people. Not only the fans from other universities came to support their team, but those who are extremely interested in this sport. 8 teams took part in the competition. Apart from BSTU teams Belgorod Institute of Engineering and economics, Belgorod Consumer Cooperation and Law University, Belgorod State Agricultural Academy, junior sports school № 6 , Belgorod State Institute of Culture and Art participated in the competition . Our university, as an organizer and a host of events, was represented by 3 teams composed of graduate and post-graduate students, as well as foreign nationals who came to study in BSTU.
Before the start of the tournament Prof. S. Kramskoy , head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, warmly welcomed all the players and participants of this exciting event:
- Today, as a few decades ago, young people prefer the most easily accessible and popular sport - soccer, who ardently loved by millions. From year to year, we try to maintain and continue the glorious sport traditions of our university, activities such as "Friendship Cup".
It should be noted that in the preparation and organization of the youth tournament was attended by almost all university Departments - Center for International Education and Cooperation, Department of Physical Education and Sports, Students Art Centre, Faculty Staff of the Preparatory faculty for foreign students, the Council of young scientists and specialists.
The exciting program continued with the performance of our university "Image" dance group, known far beyond Belgorod, as well as solo singing by a student of Architecture and Construction Institute Valid Valear, who played for the team of foreign nationals.
The tournament was opened with the representatives Belgorod Consumer Cooperation and Law University team and foreign students of BSTU. The players, according to the rules of competitions, played 2 times for 15 minutes. During this time, the viewers were able to watch a fair amount of passes and corners, as well as a series of penalty kicks. And the first player, who opened the score in this match, was the Angolan student Jao Mambo, a student of the preparatory faculty for foreign students. A few minutes later the rivals of our players became more active: they attacked more actively and decisively in the opposite half of the pitch. This led to an inevitable goal in BSTU gate - 1:1. Shortly before the end of the second half, our athletes again struck by the gate of his rivals. It was done by Alberto Silva Paulo, a citizen of Angola who played for our team. 2:1 - with the score of the team left for a short break. In the middle of the second half owing to the strong Cooperation University players’ attack speed and superiority were able to make the score equal. The outcome of the match was solved by penalties, which showed the advantage of Cooperation University. We remind that the penalty kicks were for the second time during the match.
Another match between our postgraduate students and students of Belgorod Institute of Engineering and economics was no less exciting. Despite the fact that the postgraduates team opened the account, they were not able to put a victorious full stop at the end of the first half of the match. Alex Neklyayev was the most successful out of the young scientists as he scored twice. The next game was developing in a quite a different way, unfavourable for a team of young scientists. In the middle of the first half BIEE athletes not only equaled the score, but managed to put the winning point in the whole match - 11:3.
The teams of sport school № 6 and Belgorod State Agricultural Academy named after V.J. Gorin were the third to fight. BSAA team consisting of mainly foreign students showed a confident game. But the athletes from sports school № 6 also tried hard to "fight to the end", without looking technically inferior to their senior opponents. The result of this match was 7:0 in favor of Agricultural Academy players. The age difference did not allow a junior team to win.
The most exciting for the fans was the game between "Technolog" (BSTU students team) and Belgorod State Institute of Culture and Art. Unpredictability and work to the result shown by both teams were the main differences of this game from all the others. From the first minutes of the meeting BSTU players took the initiative and opened the score - 1:0 (Vladislav Mihankin). Shortly after the goal scored, our players went on to storm the gates of the rivals making mistakes in their own half of the pitch. This situation benefited to the opponents -1:1. Speed advantages and perfect tactics allowed our athletes to seize the initiative again in the second half and change the score in his favor -5:2. Numerous violations made by the players of the Institute of culture added fuel to the fire. This allowed our players to score again with three goals without the opponents’ response. The result was 8:2 in favor of BSTU team. Gennady Kuropatkin and Rafael Ferzeliev were the best among our players.

- The match with our participation has turned out to be exciting, but there was not enough luck for a complete victory. I am positive that next year we will correct the situation and come out in the finals of this exciting tournament.
Vladislav Mihankin, BSTU:
- As a player and author of several goals scored in this tournament I want to say that all of the teams showed a high level of sportsmanship, endurance. Although, many of them, including us, made mistakes. Despite a few shortcomings, we have won due to strong-willed qualities. And the winners, as they say, are not to be judged. I think that the "Friendship Cup" we have won will remain with the Technological University.
The semi-final tournament, scheduled for January 27, the match was between the teams of Belgorod State Technological University and Belgorod State Agricultural Academy, Belgorod Institute of Engineering and economics and Belgorod Consumer Cooperation and Law University.
