BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov formed a Board of affinity groups

 

On December 23, our university held a ceremony with the participation of the Board of affinity groups of international students, studying at BSTU. The event was attended by the First Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor N.A. Shapovalov, Advisor to the Chancellor on foreign relations , Dr. Yaser Allaham, the vice-rector for International Relations, professor R.V. Lesovik, directors of the institutes, representatives of university divisions to work with foreign students.

  


The meeting was opened by the First Vice-Chancellor N.A. Shapovalov. Nicholay Afanasievich thanked the international students for their choice in favor of our university in building their future careers. The first vice rector told that our University has 670 representatives of other countries. Many of them are actively involved in cultural and sport life of the university.

  

To preserve cultural diversity, improving education level, developing patriotism and tolerance, as well as to attract foreign students to the social life of the University, the university established affinity groups (national students unions). It brought together 25 chairmen of affinity groups, who elected the president of the Board - Ammar Abbassi Saeyd, a student of the Institute of Architecture and Construction from Palestina.

  

It was followed by a ceremony of giving special signs (a plaque and a certificate) to the chairmen of affinity groups and signing the Declaration of foreign students communities.

  

 

Ammar Abbassi Saeyd Council said: "The activities of the Board are based on the principles of democracy, equality, justice, solidarity and openness, and willingness to cooperate and exchange experiences with other community organizations that operate in our university and beyond". Senior representatives of the university congratulated the members of affinity groups and expressed hope for close and fruitful cooperation.

  


The vice-chancellor for International Relations, announced that on the eve of the ceremony another important event had taken place - an Iraqi citizen Mohammed Waleed Abdulvahhab was appointed a chairman of the Association of Foreign Students of the Belgorod region.
