Eid al-Adha was celebrated at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov

Eid al-Adha, also called Qurban Bayramı,Qorban Bäyräme, Kurban-bajram in different languages is an Islamic holiday at the end of Hajj, is celebrated on the 10 th Day of the twelfth month in the Lunar Islamic calendar (Dhu al-Hijjah) in memory of the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham and  40 days after the end of the month of Ramadan. The holiday symbolizes mercy, God’s majesty and that the faith is the best sacrifice.

 

During the festival you should taste all the variety of meat dishes, cooked in different countries according to local tastes, using various spices; great attention is paid to table decoration, as well as making numerous sweets. People try to give presents to close friends and relatives. In the following days people pay visits to relatives and those who they know closely, as this is considered to be blessed and desirable.

On November 16, foreign students representing the countries of the Arabic countries and taking courses at BSTU, celebrated one of the most significant holidays of the Muslim world. The holiday, personifying the ideals of moral perfection, striving of a human to mercy is very dear to every Moslem , no matter where he lives. The primary message of the holiday - love to people, support and help to the suffering - is close and clear to the people belonging to different religions.

 

The university always considers the wishes of students representing all confessions. This time also the university management gave assistance with the arrangement for the festival, the place of celebration was the university café.    

The First Vice-Chancellor, prof. N.A. Shapovalov and Vice- Chancellor on International relations prof. R.V. Lesovik warmly congratulated the students. Professor of Life Safety Department, professor, Dr. Jaser Allaham reminded the foreign students, that they represent their own  countries, and appealed to them not to forget about the high responsibility of each citizen of the Arabic world. «You should be an example of successful studies and behaviour».    

 

Students’ performance brought a specific oriental color: emotional recitation of poems, sincere and gentle singing, traditional dancing. All these not only gives  support to overseas students when they are far from their native land, but evokes respect to cultural heritage of different countries, contribute to strengthening peace  and mutual understanding between the nations.
