Getting to know BSTU named after V.G. Shoukhov

         During the excursion around the University Lesovik, the first vice-rector on research, innovative and international activity, doctor of science (technology), professor told the representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Sultanate of Oman about the material and technical resources of our university.

        

The delegation headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah M. Al Sarmi, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Sultanate of Oman visited one of the lectures for foreign students. The subject of the lecture was “Modeling of hydration and concrete microstructure using nanotechnology». The lecturer – Fedor Zhernovoy.         

Professor N.I. Minko, department head, doctor of science (technology), met the guests at the department of glass technology and decorative treatment of glass. Nina Ivanovna demonstrated the collection of glass items and told about the specialists, university graduates, who used to be students of this department. Also the “Crystal pelican” souvenir, originally created as a prize for the annual “best Russian teacher” contest, was presented to Dr. Abdullah M. Al Sarmi.

 N.I. Minko showed some glass samples produced with adding of sand supplied from Yemen.        

  

A visit to up-to-date X-ray diffraction analysis laboratory, spectral analysis laboratory made an impression on the visitors. N.A. Shapovalov, the first vice-rector on education activity, doctor of science (technology), professor told about the possibilities of these facility. The guests could see the collection of natural minerals of Russia, which was of great interest to them and one of the members of the delegation took a sample of this collection as a souvenir.

Chuprina N.T., the director of research library helped to make a tour to the world of scientific and technical literature. She told about modern possibilities of the library: electronic guide and hall of electronic resources available for the lecturers and students of our university.

A model, made by architectural students of BSTU named after V.G. Shoukhov, placed at the exhibition hall, representing the entire campus, attracted much attention of the delegation. Also the guests could see the exhibition of artistic works by Evgeny Savotchenko, the member of the of Russian artists Association. The exposition is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the victory Great Patriotic War (World War II).       

At the final stage of the excursion one of the guests – Jami Fadel, attaché on culture of the Embassy of Oman in Moscow  made some conclusions about the tour: «Today’s visit to the Technological University has made a very nice impression. The level of the arrangement and opportunities in your educational establishment is much higher then in one of Moscow higher institutions, where we were yesterday. Glass and cement laboratories we could see today make a surprise by availability of up-to-date technological equipment. Such facilities, we are sure, make it possible to train excellent specialists».
